New from Bloomsbury for Fall 2009 Just in time for the new, scaled-down version of the Holidays: Three New Oldies - The Glorious Nosebleed, The West Wing, and The Recently Deflowered Girl The Recently Deflowered Girl is this year's Gorey sleeper (sorry, couldn't help it). Early January 2009, this slight yet engaging volume briefly became all the buzz on the internet's blogosphere. A blogger posted the pages from the original 1965 Chelsea House edition, and a whole new giggling world was introduced to Gorey, via Hyacinthe Phypps. Rumors circulated - was Gorey really Phypps? Was Phypps a real life columnist? Who was Mel Juffe? Well, there's no such thing as bad publicity, as they say. The book is doing very well, thank you. Just for the record, Mel Juffe (1929-2005) is the author and Gorey is not Phypps. It's so well done though, you kind of wish he was.
